What is a Grass Buddy?
Many of Larrakia Nation's programs provide critical care to people who are staying in the Long Grass. Some stay for a short time and are without shelter, while others stay for a long time and are often shelterless and homeless. All of this population, however, struggle from day to day and require various forms of support.
Becoming a Grass Buddy is one important way to show your committment to making Darwin a better place to live for everyone. Through Grass Buddies, we aim to take a timely, strategic and coordinated approach to lobbying and advocating for positive changes in our community. As a Grass Buddy, you can also register to become a volunteer on any one of our programs.
Some of the changes necessary challenge the status quo and people don't want to hear about it. But we need people to speak out and join us in our campaign to make Darwin a better place. We may request you to sign a petition, contact a leader or write to the newspaper on an issue. Grass Buddies is a new initiative and aims to be an evolving one, so please share your ideas for positive community change with us.
