Employment and CDEP

A dedicated Employment and Training Officer employed by Darwin Regional Indigenous Employment Services (DRIES) supports Larrakia and other local Indigenous people into employment and training. This activity includes identifying training needs and employment opportunities.

There are a number of partnership arrangements in place, such as DRCDEP, Indigenous Employment Centre, Work for the Dole and the Northern Land Council.

Larrakia Nation currently hosts 87 CDEP positions from the Darwin Regional CDEP.

The responsibility of accommodating CDEP participants is of mutual benefit. This workforce helps assist the development of Larrakia Nation activities and in-turn promotes the development of work skills and experience to increase employment outcome opportunities for Indigenous people in the region.

• Increased influence and capacity by enhancing relationships through cooperation and understanding between Larrakia people, other Indigenous people and the broader community
  
• Being known as a major auspicing organisation by development and delivery of projects and services beyond the expectation of stakeholders
  
• Developing independence and sustainability by starting and operating economically viable businesses
