The Larrakia Nation Aboriginal Corporation is a not-for-profit non-government organisation.

We continue to make a powerful and direct contribution to social capital building in Darwin.  In addition, our work touches the communities and lives of the many thousands of Aboriginal Territorians who have come to depend on our culturally relevant care, compassion and practical support when they are staying in Darwin.

We challenge, encourage and support any individual or organisation to share our responsibility to create a better Darwin and Northern Territory for future generations.

There are many ways you can get involved with our work and support the Larrakia to fulfill obligations to kin and country.  With support, we can advance in leaps and bounds to develop our people so that we can lead healthy and productive lives.

In his address to the 61st World Health Assembly in May 2008, the former Director General of the World Health Organization, Dr Halfdan Mahler, stated:

...please, allow this old man in front of you to insist that unless we all become partisans in renewed local and global battles for social and economic equity in the spirit of distributive justice, we shall indeed betray the future of our children and grandchildren.

My memory tells me that the World Health Assembly had this in mind when, in 1977, it decided that the main social target for governments and WHO in the coming decades should be the attainment of what is known as "Health for All".

And, the Health Assembly described that as a level of health that will permit all the people of the world to lead socially and economically productive lives. The Health Assembly did not consider health as an end in itself, but rather as a means to an end...

The Larrakia Nation invites you to become 'partisans' in the local battle for social and economic equity to ensure that we safeguard the future of our country and people.
